Once again we put together the FULL ORCHESTRA for the Christmas performance of A Time For Christmas at First Assembly of God here in Fort Wayne. This year also included a dinner prior to the evening performances that included performances by our flute trio as well as the Mark Van Cleave Jazz Orchestra - a 20 piece full blown (no pun intended) BIG BAND!

The Saviour Tour by Clay Crosse national tour performance at First Assembly of God in Fort Wayne. Full orchestra and 100 piece choir made this a bombastically fun event for all.

Another successful performance of Child of the Promise with full orchestra. This wa the first year for the First Assembly of God Christmas musical to be performed at the new church location.

Just played an AMAZING performance with Marshall White and the Voices of Unity choir with a five piece horn section. Plans are being made for a tribute to Luther Vandros and Earth Wind and Fire sometime in this June

This year's fund raising Christmas show for First Assembly of God was a performance of Child of the Promise by Michael Omartian. In the past 4 years, we have raised over $50K for the Ft. Wayne based Mathew 25 free health clinic ministry. We epanded the pit orchestra with a string section and preformed this concert style performance ON STAGE!

After MUCH help from friends here in Ft. Wayne, we are once again moving forward. Will start rehearsing the FULLY BLOWN (no pun intended) Big Band version of Calvary Horns as soon as we lock in a venue. Check back soon for more details.

getting some of the logistics put together for our own sound system! Got it all wired up in ONE rack system (SKB Gig Rig). Now we can perform ANYWHERE that there is electricity. Keep checking for gigs coming later this summer here in the Northern Indiana area. WOW...this is taking WAY longer to get all the details together than ever imagined. Also, thanks for all of your prayers for my family during the past year of amazing health issues.

The Third successful year for the Two From Galilee musical here in Ft. Wayne, IN! The Orchestra was better than ever and included a HARP as well this year. Bob Parent of Assembly of God produced this years run to once again raise funding for the Ft. Wayne based Mathew 25 free health clinic ministry.

For the second year in a row, a successful run of the Christmas Musical Two From Galilee was put on by the Life Bridge and First Assembly of God churches of Fort Wayne to raise money for the Mathew 25 free health clinic ministry.

This year, our expanded pit orchestra numbered 21 pieces!!! Many compliments abounded and the show was indeed a success!

As with all projects of this magnitude, logistics always play a major part in getting things started. All things in God's timing.

Saying that seems that starting small was NOT part of His plan for this ministry. As much as conventional wisdom has been pushing for a reasonably slower start with less logistical complications, all of the plans that are falling into place by themselves are for the Calvary Horns Big Band project.

Aside from the Duke Ellington Sacred concerts, Stan Kenton also recorded a powerful Christmas album of traditional Christmas tunes with his unmistakable powerful arranging style. Rehearsals start in Sept. for several Christmas shows that will culminate in a multi-church New Years Eve celebration featuring the entire Calvary Horns Christian Big Band.that is made up of all Christian players from around the Ft. Wayne, IN area.

Mark Van Cleave performed the Advent Jazz Vespers By Candlelight with Bradley Sowash at First Presbyterian, Ft. Wayne, IN. Playing JAZZ for an Advent service is quite a nice opportunity for both the congregation and jazz musicians to come together in worship in a very creative and modern setting.

Bradley was a blast to work with in this type of "jazz" setting. It was great to have such a musically diverse partner for this service. Bradley digs into very rhythmic grooves and explores contemporary chord changes while playing some very traditional selections. Included in this service was the First Presbyterian Choir under the direction of Stephen Sheft.

All in all it was a very nice service and a GREAT chance to meet and perform with Bradley Sowash and all of the First Presbyterian staff and choir! Plans are already in the works for more "Jazz in the Church" performances with Bradley!

Recent events have again brought another project into the Calvary Horns lap! In combination with Big Band America, CH is looking into presenting a performance of music from Duke Ellington's three Sacred Concerts which were originally performed at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco in 1965.

These LARGE arrangements (for full choir, two vocal soloists, dancers, and complete big band) will be recorded as well as filmed for eventual broadcast.

Details are still being worked out, but information will be posted here as soon as it becomes available.

Getting things "off the ground" has been kind of crazy lately. But all of a sudden, getting an opportunity to put together a horn section for the upcoming Hillsong tour for their Fort Wayne, IN concert (Life Bridge) is quite a blessing!

I have been blessed to be able to put together one of the BIGGEST and BADDEST gatherings of Christian horn players from the Ft. Wayne, IN area for this concert.4 trumpets, 4 saxes, 2 trombones will round out the horn section for this event.

The only CH news at the moment is this web site.

Please stop by often as we are just moving in and new items/info will be added daily until completion.

Between writing and solidifying the personnel, CH has had little time for anything except putting the original group together and getting rehearsed. If you are interested in becoming a member of Calvary Horns, please contact us via our contact page and be sure to select the "Joining Calvary Horns" button at the top of the form.

We will be heading into the studio as soon as final decisions on charts etc. have been made. Check out the beta/working versions of the rhythm tracks here.

We can't wait!
